Making the Link with the Strengthening Families Framework

October 5, 2018

FAST® is recognized by The Center for the Study of Social Policy’s (CSSP) Strengthening Families™ in its Making the Link series. The Strengthening Families framework is a “research-informed approach” that strives to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families by building five protective factors:

  • Parental resilience
  • Social connections
  • Knowledge of parenting and child development
  • Concrete support in times of need
  • Social and emotional competence of children

Families & Schools Together partnered with CSSP to “make the link” between FAST and the Strengthening Families protective factors. The Making the Link factsheet can be read below or if you click here.

Additionally, here is what CSSP’s Strengthening Families mentioned about making the link to FAST in its e-newsletter:

In many communities, both Strengthening Families and Families and Schools Together (FAST) are being implemented – often by community organizations and schools that serve the same families. The latest in our series of factsheets about alignment between Strengthening Families and evidence-based programs and approaches demonstrates how FAST supports families to build their protective factors and why implementers of both approaches could benefit from linking their work at the local and/or state level.
