Through creative partnerships, FAST® is being implemented in large scale projects in diverse situations – from inner city settings to rural America – with the goal of achieving school turnaround and improved academic performance.
The $15-million i3: Investing in Family Engagement project is using FAST to help turn around low-performing schools in urban Philadelphia, where – according to 2010 census data – 31% of families with children under age 18 live below of the federal poverty level. Five partner organizations are working to change school climate, encourage social inclusion, empower parents, and achieve school turnaround in a school district that serves more than 12,000 kindergarten children per year across 167 schools.
